Previously, anime series Gurren Lagann tweeted about a mysterious commercial video before the first episode of the series’ rerun. While fans suspected a sequel was coming, it was in fact the announcement of a new original TV anime produced by Gurren Lagann’s major staff members – DARLING in the FRANKXX (ダーリン・イン・ザ・フランキス).
“To cater to your taste,
hey, why don’t you ride on me?
The nameless children,
inseparable lovebirds,
the life in a cage,
found you…my darling”
Gurren Lagann’s character designer Atsushi Nishigori will be directing the new anime while the director Hiroyuki Imaishi will the supervising the new anime’s animation. It is currently co-produced by TRIGGER, a studio consisting of many from the Gurren Lagann’s crew founded by Imaishi, and A-1 Pictures.
Other crew members include deputy director Akai Toshifumi (Gurren Lagann), screenwriter Naotaka Hayashi (Plastic Memories), Masayoshi Tanaka (Your Name) and mechanic designer Shigeto Koyama (Gurren Lagann).
