A brand-new 30-second teaser trailer for the upcoming live-action movie adaptation of Masami Kurumada’s Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac legendary manga, has been revealed. The movie is set to premiere in theaters worldwide in 2023.
The film stars Mackenyu Arata, Madison Iseman, Sean Bean, Famke Janssen, Nick Stahl, Diego Tinoco, and Mark Dacascos. Polish animator and special effects creator Tomasz Baginski is directing for Toei with Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions. Andy Cheng is the stunt coordinator and fight coordinator. Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken are the latest writers of the film script.
Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac is labeled an origin story, with Mackenyu starring as Seiya, a street orphan and the title hero of the franchise. When a mystical energy known as Cosmo awakens in him, Seiya embarks on a journey to conquer the ancient Greek armor of Pegasus and choose his side in a preternatural battle for the fate of Sienna, a young girl who struggles to control her godly powers.

Saint Seiya, also known as Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac or simply Knights of the Zodiac, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masami Kurumada. It was serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1986 to 1990, with its chapters collected in twenty-eight tankōbon volumes.
The story focuses on an orphan named Seiya who was forced to go to the Sanctuary in Greece to obtain one of the Cloths, the Bronze Cloth of the Pegasus constellation, a protective armor worn by the Greek goddess Athena’s 88 warriors known as the Knights. Upon awakening his Cosmo, the power of the Knights which is an inner spiritual essence that originated in the Big Bang, Seiya quickly becomes the Pegasus Saint and returns to Japan to find his older sister.
The series has received a plethora of arcs and anime adaptations. Currently, the most recent one is Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac – Battle for Sanctuary, which is a CG remake of the original anime. The first season covers the story from the Galaxian Wars to Silver Saints arcs of the manga, while the Second Season branches out to the Twelve Houses.
