▍ About Ys Ix: Monstrum Nox
Ys Ix: Monstrum Nox is as the title suggests, the ninth main entry into the Ys JRPG series by Nihon Falcom. This action RPG builds on the gameplay from Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, were you can control multiple characters that can be switched out on the fly mid-combat.
Each character comes with their own unique combat style and gifts which can be used for exploration, such as running on walls, breaking down walls, and gliding over long distances.
Ys Ix takes place in Balduq, a city northeast of Esteria and under Romun control. Balduq is known to the public as the prison city for its gigantic prison that houses what the Romuns call insurgents, but are actually just people who speak out against the government.
In recent years humans with unique powers called Monstrums have begun to appear throughout the lands, these rogue agents use their powers for good, helping the poor and helpless. While the common people almost revere them, there are many denizens that scorn them.
