Mainframe Industries, a Finnish studio formed by artists involved in large MMOs of the last 20 years, has revealed its first title, Pax Dei, a new MMO role-playing game. A new trailer giving a glimpse of his vast medieval world was also revealed.
Pax Dei is an immense, player-driven, social sandbox that seeks to revive the roots of the MMO genre with a player-driven and community-focused design. Set in a fantastical world inspired by medieval mythology, where magic and mystery are real, the game invites players to define their own goals and challenges.
The open-world sandbox design of Pax Dei allows players of all types to create their stories and fill the game world with them. Players can build their homes in cooperative village buildings and work together to grow their villages. Pax Dei features extensive character customization and modular house-building systems, and every player has a role to play and a contribution to make.
Players can also leave the safety of their homes to explore the wilderness and encounter legendary creatures, ancient mysteries, and increasingly difficult challenges. They can choose to fight other players to assert dominance for their clan or to bring glory, bounty, and secrets back home.
The game features a persistent, seamless world that players can explore with a scale that supports thousands of other players. The developer has augmented Unreal Engine 5 with MMO-specific capabilities, enabling an expansive simulation with stunning detail.
Pax Dei will be available on Steam for PC gamers soon, and the studio is developing cloud gaming platforms to make the game playable on “any screen,” including consoles and mobile phones. Interested players can sign up for the alpha test at the game’s website and wishlist the game on Steam.
