At the Level-5 Tsuzumi live broadcast this morning, the developer showcased the gameplay introduction trailer for the upcoming turn-based detective RPG Decapolice. Decapolice is set to release for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 in 2023.
Decapolice takes place in Decasim, a virtual world created from a perfect copy of reality. More than just a simulation, it’s a complete copy of a real city, a forbidden place where memories of every past crime lie dormant. In order to help unravel the riddles of the real world, you must find the clues that lie inside this cyber city…
▍ Decapolice Gameplay
In order to solve the case, the simulation of Decasim will completely recreate the incident’s circumstances. By consulting with people, you will be able to obtain their testimonies, as well as collect the evidence scattered across the board.
All of this will be added to what is known as the Evidence Table. Once you’ve collected enough, you must stick the evidence into the Case Board according to what you’ve learned.
After you’ve collected enough information, you can start to make connections between each person and help you track down the truth. Are the two suspects related by blood? Or are they just mere acquaintances? The more you figure out, the higher the percentage gauge increases, so investigate the scene thoroughly to find out the “whodunnit”!
If you think you have correctly pieced everything together, the Resolution Phase will kick in! This is where all of the suspects gather, and you must successfully point out who did it. Of course, that isn’t enough, as a criminal will not go down without a fight!
In battles of Decapolice, you are not allowed to use force unless authorized by the police. An exception to this rule is made however when the criminal’s desires materialize what is known as a Crime Beasts, where you must defeat them before they cause havoc in the city! In addition, there will be situations where you must successfully rescue civilians that have been held hostage with your negotiation powers. Sometimes peace CAN be an option, you see!

■ Harvard Marks
The protagonist of Decapolice and leader of the Special Investigations Unit’s rookie team. A certain incident sparked an outright obsession in him to arrest criminals.
While he is a prodigy, graduating from Broadstone Police College at the age of 20, he will sometimes break the rules with his overzealous style of leadership and energy. With excellent intuition and exceptional creativity, he is capable of outsmarting any criminal.
■ Carl Oxford
A negotiation specialist and member of the Special Investigations Unit’s rookie team.
He has been friends with Harvard since their police college days. Despite his sheltered upbringing, he is straightforward and honest, and although he can come across as bland sometimes, his desire to become a first-class detective is genuine.
■ Zhang Tsinghua
The Special Investigations Unit’s rookie team and self-proclaimed “hacker of justice”. The computer expert of the group. The electric lock he cannot crack has not yet been invented.
■ Manimani Manoa
Profiling major and member of the Special Investigations Unit’s rookie team. Manimani is well-versed in the psychology of criminals and shows psychic-like proficiency when it comes to profiling. She has a peculiar way of thinking and a unique eye for observation.
■ Mikey Princeton
The martial arts expert among the Special Investigations Unit’s rookie team members. His extraordinary dynamic visual acuity has helped the kind-hearted Mikey to master all sorts of martial arts. Despite his expertise, he actually has a gentle personality and hates hurting others.
■ Granger Boston
The martial arts expert among the Special Investigations Unit’s rookie team members. The Chief of the Special Investigations Unit. A seasoned detective who is in charge of training new recruits. He has a rough and blunt personality but passionately cares about his subordinates.
■ Misae Cambridge
The instructor was assigned to Harvard’s rookie team. She is an elite police officer with a sharp mind, who is well-versed in all detective skills. A little too particular about going by the book, she also has a headstrong side.
