Bandai Namco Entertainment announced that the rhythm game The Idolmaster SideM: Growing Stars is officially ramping down on its game content from April 2023, and will then be shutting down on July 31, 2023. The game will have been live for just under 1 year and 11 months when it shuts down.
The announcement was made in a live stream held by the team behind the game, in which the team held a press conference without any music. The team said that due to various factors, the game will be continuing from this month under “reduced operations” and will be shutting down on July 31, 13:59 [JST]. Reduced operations mean that the game will continue to operate with some event reruns and basic updates, and will stop receiving updates in May.
On the topic of content that was in development, the team is looking to adjust that content to be released before the game’s life cycle. The team also stated that while it is moving away from social games, it will continue to post updates and new content for SideM through concerts, merchandise, manga, drama CDs, 3D performances, and other content. SideM’s 8th live concert will still proceed as planned.
