It was announced that Dan Ichikawa’s My New Boss Is Goofy comedy manga is getting a TV anime adaptation. A visual teaser, promotional video, main cast, and staff were revealed alongside the announcement.
The series revolves around Kentarō Momose, who changed jobs due to workplace harassment, as he worries about facing more mistreatment from his new boss. However, Chief Shirasaki turns out to be a gentle and natural airhead who teaches Momose about work. The series depicts the healing effect that Shirasaki’s presence has on Momose.
It initially started as a webcomic on the author’s Twitter account on May 15, 2018, before it was officially serialized on Akita Shoten’s free comic site, Manga Cross, beginning on February 5, 2019. The series ranked first in the 2019 Web Manga Sousenkyo and ranked eighteenth in the 2020 “Kono Manga ga Sugoi!” for the female readers’ category.
Yūichirō Umehara plays the goofy boss Yūsei Shirosaki, while Kōtarō Nishiyama plays the young salesman Kentarō Momose. Additional cast members include Tomokazu Sugita as Mitsuo Aoyama, Jun Fukuyama as Aigo Kinjō, and Hiro Shimono as Hakutō.
The series is directed by Noriyuki Abe, with series composition by Masahiro Yokotani, character design and chief animation direction by Takahiro Yasuda, and music by Masato Nakayama. A-1 Pictures will handle the production.
