Team 17 and The Game Kitchen announced that the 2D Metroidvania action game Blasphemous 2 is launching for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC via Steam on August 24.
The new trailer details a bit of the new setting the sequel is taking place in while previewing about a minute’s worth of gameplay with the Penitent One’s new weapons, from a Rapier and Dagger combo, a curved sword, a Bell on a Chain, and new spells, casting thorns from their body.

Blasphemous 2 follows The Penitent One again in a new adventure, as he awakens in an unfamiliar land displaced from his final resting place.
Blasphemous 2 picks up after its free Wounds of Eventide DLC where The Miracle foretold the birth of a new miracle child. Awakening now in a new land, the Penitent One now must fight his way through life, death, and resurrection to explore this new world and uncover its dark secrets.
This time the game offers new weapons and once again a Non-linear world filled with traps, hidden enemies, tough encounters, and a beautifully grotesque world. You’ll be able to perform brutal executions and expanded combos with the new weapons and updates to moveset, while also letting you customize and improve your basic skill set.
