Developers Remedy Entertainment and Publisher Epic Games announced that Alan Wake II, the sequel to the seminal survival horror title, was postponed to October 27, 2023, ten days after the initial planned release date on October 17.
Remedy added in an official statement on social media that “October is an amazing month for game launches and we hope this date shift gives more space for everyone to enjoy their favorite games”. The developers further added that “We can’t wait to show you what everyone’s favorite novelist is up to in the Dark Place next week. Thanks for your patience!”
A direct sequel to the original Xbox 360 title from 13 years ago, Alan Wake II tells a double-narrative with a layered sense of mystery, with players taking on the roles of FBI agent Saga Anderson and titular character Alan Wake. Switching between Anderson’s life-or-death race to reach the truth and Wake’s desperate struggle to escape the Dark Place, a new sinister journey awaits from what all began with a murder investigation in the Pacific Northwest town of Bright Falls…
Alan Wake II is set to launch for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games store.
▍Alan Wake II Gameplay
While Alan explores a new nightmarish world that looks similar to his home back in New York, Anderson must explore the town of Bright Falls, which has succumbed to a string of murders seemingly of ritualistic intent. As you take on both worlds, you’ll be attacked by supernatural entities, that are susceptible to the light.
Shining your flashlight against the darkness to weaken these contemptible freaks, Alan and Anderson must utilize powerful light sources to send them back whence they came, lest they be overwhelmed.
