At today’s Akatsuki Games Now Online Showcase, the action RPG Tribe Nine has revealed a new teaser visual and trailer giving a sneak peek at its dynamic actions and high-quality 3D graphics. The game is set to release on smartphones and PC with an undetermined release date.
Though the detailed gameplay of the game is yet to be revealed, the trailer does showcase the intense “Extreme Baseball” battle between the characters and seems to be hinting at a dual protagonist arrangement. But it remains unclear whether the game will be released globally or in Japan only.
First announced in 2020, Tribe Nine is a multimedia franchise created by Danganronpa’s creator Kazutaka Kodaka. It consists of a video game developed by Akatsuki Games and Too Kyo Games, and an anime television series by Liden Films, which aired from January to March 2022. The game is produced by Too Kyo Games’ Shūhei Yamaguchi with character design by Rui Komatsuzaki (Danganronpa) and Simadoriru.
Tribe Nine takes place in a dystopian future where disaffected youths form their own Tribes that soon turn violent and run rampant across the city of Neo-Tokyo. To contain the violence, the government of Neo-Tokyo implements the “XB Law”, stating that all future conflicts between Tribes will be settled through games of “Extreme Baseball” that are similar to baseball. There are fewer restrictions on equipment, the “field” can be as big as an entire ward, and the only ways to get an Out require striking out the batter or tagging out a baserunner while holding the ball. Games can also end if the opposing team is rendered unable to continue playing the game.
