Upcoming anime film Laughing Under the Clouds Gaiden: Ketsubetsu (曇天に笑う〈外伝〉 ~決別、犲の誓い~) has a minute-long trailer released yesterday. A main visual and some new images are also now available.
The movie will premiere on 2nd December this year. This is the first part of the franchise’s new three-part film series. The open date of the remaining two anime, which are also directed by Tetsuya Wakano at WIT Studio now, are unknown.
Adapted from Karakara Kemuri’s (唐々煙) manga series Laughing Under the Clouds Gaiden – sequel to Laughing Under the Clouds, the first film’s plot follows the events that happen before the Kumo brothers set out to repel Orochi. The main visual says “we vowed together, we dreamt together – for protecting this country” and “at that time, we wanted to be a hero”.
In the original manga serialised in Monthly Comic Avarus between 2011 and 2014, the three Kumo brothers take up the job to transport criminals to prison during the Meiji Restoration, but at the same time their lives are haunted by a mysterious enemy – Orochi. Gaiden has finished it serialisation in Monthly Comic Garden this year, but Another Laughing in Limbo is still in progress in Web Comic Beat’s. The first anime adaption was made in 2014.
