It is time for Captain Tsubasa (キャプテン翼) to bring back the soccer fever again. Today, mangaka Yoichi Takahashi (高橋 陽一 ) announced another TV anime adaption for his work. The last adaption was already 15 years ago.
The new plot is based on the very beginning of the manga created between 1981 and 1988, which focuses on Tsubasa Oozora’s primary school life. According to Takahashi, the anime has adopted a more contemporary setting considering how much time has passed since he first drew the series. Many old voice actors have also been replaced.
It is currently directed by Toshiyuki Kato (Level E) at David Production. The script is written by Atsuro Tomioka (Pokémon: The Series). The show will begin in April 2018.
