Earlier today at 10th May, the anime film of Daisuke Igarashi’s manga Children of the Sea (海獣の子供) has updated a new teaser trailer. The minute-long PV brings soul-stirring scene with opening theme song Umi no Yurei (海の幽霊) performed by best-selling singer Kenshi Yonezu (米津玄師).
The climax of the PV starts with the line of “It is the same as we do not see anything” (僕たちは何も見えていないのと同じだ) by the main character, Sora, following by a breathtaking scene of the shooting stars falling from the sky with rays of light.
The PV proceeds with the portrayal of mysterious phenomena occurring under the sea as heroine Ruka gradually unveils the secrets of the ocean, and ends in the shocking scene where Ruka is being swallowed by a huge whale.
The melodious song of Kenshi Yonezu’s Umi no Yurei (the ghost of the ocean) further adds a feeling of melancholy to complete the mysterious sea world. Yonezu noted that the opening theme song is created under the message of “the most important thing cannot be told” (大切なことは言葉にならない), which highlights the relationship of the three main characters, Ruka, Zora (Japanese for the sky) and Umi (Japanese for the sea).
