The new works will be co-made by\u00a0Production I.G and Cartoon Network.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ix7mDEclKxU?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the announcement video, a short preview of FLCL 2 can be seen. The story introduces a new character\u00a0Hidomi, who lives an average life until a classmate has a giant robot emerging from his forehead, and she needs &#8220;that girl&#8221; to save her and everyone.\u00a0The background theme song is by\u00a0The Pillows, who were also responsible for the music in the original\u00a0FLCL. The movie\u00a0is scheduled for\u00a02018 release.<\/p>\n<p>FLCL 3 is also revealed at the end of the clip but without a release date\u00a0announced.<\/p>\n<p>FLCL is an original video animation produced by Gainax and directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki, the assistant director of Neon Genesis Evangelion.
