<\/p>\nNiantic, the maker of Pok\u00e9mon Go, announces a partnership with Nintendo to co-develop a new AR mobile title based on the company\u2019s “Pikmin” franchise. The app is being developed\u00a0by\u00a0Niantic Tokyo Studio and will launch later this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe app will include gameplay activities to encourage walking and make walking more delightful,\u201d according to a press release from Niantic. The company notably specifies that the title will make use of their augmented reality platform to integrate the real world into the app\u2019s experiences.<\/p>\n
\u201cNiantic\u2019s AR technology has made it possible for us to experience the world as if Pikmin are secretly living all around us,\u201d Nintendo\u2019s Shigeru Miyamoto added in a statement. \u201cBased on the theme of making walking fun, our mission is to provide people a new experience that\u2019s different from traditional games. We hope that the Pikmin and this app will become a partner in your life.\u201d<\/p>\n
