Go Nagai’s iconic Mazinger Z manga celebrates its 45th Anniversary this year. The manga and television anime series premiered in 1972. The series revolves around Koji Kabuto, a Japanese high-school boy and his super robot Mazinger Z. Together they defend the world against Dr. hell who is determined to take over the world.
To commemorate the series’ 45th anniversary, Toei Animation announced a film adaptation will be made. The film is temporarily titled Gekijoban Mazinger Z (劇場版 マジンガーZ).
Toei Animation has also launched a website for the film. Although at the moment nothing about the story line is revealed, the film will have a stage event at AnimeJapan 2017 on 26th March, 2017.
