Square Enix announced on the official website for Fantasy Earth Zero that the MMORPG will be shutting down on September 28, 15:00 [JST] after 15 years and 9 months of service.
The game will suspend the sale of all premium currency on August 24, 11:00 [JST], and will cause all purchased orbs to expire when the game shuts down, regardless of its previously stated six months expiration period. Orbs will not be refunded if they expire from the service shutting down.
The game was originally handled by Gamepot as a free-to-play title until it was handed over to Square Enix in November of 2015 and became a paid title. The game also had a North American release in May 2010, but that was shut down less than a year later in March 2011. The game also received a spin-off on mobile, called Fantasy Earth Genesis, but was shut down on March 31, 2020.
