A brand-new key visual for Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of a Dark Dusk, which is the second movie based on Reki Kawahara’s Sword Art Online: Progressive light novel series was revealed. The new visual also confirmed that the movie will debut in Japanese theaters on September 10.
Furthermore, a program commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Sword Art Online series will be held. Titled Sword Art Online 10th Anniversary Countdown, the program will have details of the 10th-anniversary project, and new information on the movie will be also announced.
It was also announced that a total of 23 kinds of merchandise will be on sale at the The Art of Sword Art Online exhibition, which will be held at the Ueno Royal Museum in Tokyo from July 2 to 24. It was also announced that an audio guide for each artwork will be provided by three past animation producers, Atsushi Kato, Atsushi Kaneko, and Terunao Shibuya.
Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of the Deep Night is the sequel to the first Progressive movie, Sword Art Online: Progressive -Aria of a Starless Night-. It centers on the events around Kirito and Asuna when they were still on the lower floors of Aincrad, which were not included in the original Sword Art Online series because of the time skip.
