The man behind the Yu-Gi-Oh manga, and trading card game, Kazuki Takahashi passed away on July 6. He was 60 years old at the time of his passing. Kazuki Takahashi reportedly was found off the coast of Nago City in Okinawa by the Japanese Coast Guard.
Officials are currently investigating the events that lead to his death and stated that his body was reported by a person on a passing boat, who saw Takahashi’s body floating approximately 300 meters off the coast of Nago at around 10:30 AM [JST]. Kazuki Takahashi was also equipped with snorkeling gear when his body was found.

Kazuki Takahashi, also known as Kazuo Takahashi was born on October 4, 1961. He was a Japanese manga artist animator, director, and the man responsible for creating the original manga Yu-Gi-Oh! in 1996. His manga lead to the creation of the trading card game played worldwide and published by Konami. He attributed the creation of the card game as a reference to Magic: The Gathering, but quickly found success as the original chapter involving the card blew up and reworked Yu-Gi-Oh! to center entirely around the card game.
