Square Enix announced yet another mobile idol game Project Tokyo Dolls (プロジェクト東京ドールズ) three days ago. The game’s official twitter and website have just been updated, revealing the true background of this seemingly happy and relaxing game.

The update includes a new visual, the first part of the preview video and the plot.

A rising idol group in Tokyo called DOLLS is in fact the country’s special force for eliminating Pygmalion, the extraterrestrial organisms hidden in the city. Those who are influenced by the aliens get deprived of their emotions and memories. The nine DOLLS are the only ones who are resistant to such influences.
The first part of the three-episode preview video is bloody and dark, the complete opposite of what the developer presented at the very beginning. The video series is produced by Wit Studio and Square Enix’s subsidiary Visualworks.
The game is currently available for pre-registration. It is expected to be out in June.
