It’s been three years since Katana Zero‘s release date on April 18 2019, and developer Askiisoft has given us a glimpse of the game’s free DLC, with over 10 minutes of gameplay of the DLC’s first level.
As mentioned in a blog post back on March 27, 2021, the DLC is slated to be six times bigger than originally planned, now said to be as big as half of the base game.
Hopefully, the Katana Zero answers more questions posed by the end of the game, and while it won’t end the game’s story, it’s sure to be a great time with more of the fast-paced, time-bending combat of the original.

Katana Zero is a neo-noir, punk-action platformer featuring an amnesiac samurai only named “Zero”, living in a dingy apartment and given medication by a psychiatrist. He is tasked by the psychiatrist to perform assassinations on high-profile targets, while Zero relives nightmares of a child, running away from war.
The game features unique, non-chronological storytelling, with events happening in between each other and in different time periods. Players can have Zero respond to certain NPCs with different ways, building his personality and motives.

Katana Zero is a fast-paced, and surgical action game. Players control Zero, a character that wields a powerful katana that kills all enemies in one hit. The catch? You also die in one hit. Zero does have the unique ability called Chronos, which allows you to slow down time during the action for a limited duration, letting you systematically plan out an attack on your enemies, while evading, and even reflecting bullets back at them.
Use objects in the environment from bottles, doors, and even the enemy’s own weaponry to defeat enemies in style.
