During today’s Nintendo Direct, Bandai Namco announced that Tales of Symphonia will be getting a remastered edition for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in early 2023. Japan is receiving the game earlier though, as the website states a Winter 2022 release. Pre-orders are also available now!
According to the developer, the objective of this remastered version is to introduce this beloved entry in the Tales of series to a whole new generation of fans. They plan on updating the game visually and adding new gameplay enhancements, though any further specifications were not stated.

The following changes will be made to the game: First, a button to skip events and cutscenes will be added. It is confirmed that the game will be running at a stable 30 FPS, just like the PS3 release. Furthermore, changes to the save screen and improvements to the sea movement were made.
▍About Tales of Symphonia
Originally released for the GameCube in 2004 (in the west), it was later ported to the PS2. A Wii sequel followed in 2008 and then in 2013, both games were released in HD on PS3 as Tales of Symphonia Chronicles.
The story follows Lloyd Irving and his friends who are intent on saving the twin worlds of Sylvarant and Tethe’alla, and to do so, they must seal the five temples. Furthermore, the game features anime cutscenes from renowned artist Kosuke Fujishima.
