Bandai Namco revealed a story trailer for One Piece Odyssey at today’s One Piece Odyssey TGS 2022 Live Stream. The game is also confirmed to release on PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on January 12, 2023! PC players will have to wait a little longer as it will release on Steam on January 13.
The trailer gives a more thorough background to Waford, a mysterious island that rise from the ocean years ago with the legends of giants. After swallowing by a huge storm at sea during their voyage, the Straw Hats land on Waford and meet Lim, a mysterious girl who seems to hate pirates.
Lim took away the power of Luffy and his crew with the island’s mysterious relics, forcing them to step on a journey to take back what they’ve lost. At the end of the trailer, a memorable scene featuring Vivi and Alabasta was revealed, hinting that the Straw Hats will be revisiting the place in the game.
The original characters and monsters of the game are created by the manga creator Eiichiro Oda. The live stream also reveals that Marika Kouno will voice over the original character Lim.
A special illustration by Oda was also revealed to commemorate the game.
The live stream also showcases live gameplay of One Piece Odyssey, which seems to be the demo that the QooApp editor experienced at the Bandai Namco media event in July. The demo started when Luffy and his counterparts find that Nami is captured by a gigantic Gorilla. While on the quest to save Nami from the monster, the player will manipulate Luffy to discover the island and take down the weird creatures/animals along the way.
The live demo also showcases the turn-based combat system, while players can unleash the signature attacks of the Straw Hat crew, such as Luffy’s Gum-Gum Pistol, Gomu Gomu no Gatling, Second Gear, etc.
Battles also have a unique “Dramatic Scene” element that allows a random situation to influence the fight. For example, Sanji is surrounded by a group of beauty and is unable to join the fights.

▍About One Piece Odyssey
One Piece Odyssey will feature an original story and players can take on the role of nine of their favorite pirates, including Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Franky, Sanji, Usopp, Nico Robin, Chopper, and Brook. Players will follow the Straw Hat Pirates to solve the mystery of a newly discovered island with a system that utilizes their unique actions and a command battle system.
In the adventure part, players can explore the environments and get past obstacles using the unique skills of the Straw Hat Pirates. Players will have to utilize the qualities of different characters, for example, Luffy’s rubber body or Frankie’s ability to improvise tools, in order to overcome the obstacles in your adventure.
The game also features an original turn-based command battle system, where players take victory by using their favorite Straw Hat Pirates, and each character plays an active role in different situations.
