Anime series Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (天元突破グレンラガン) will be having a rerun starting tonight in commemoration of the series’ 10th anniversary. Two days earlier, the programme’s official Twitter suggested that a major update would be made on the same day the first episode aired. The series remains a big hit even though the story was already finished eight years ago. Spin-off media and entertainments have also been made despite the absence of any new anime. Fans suspect a sequel is coming according to the hints on the official Twitter.
Gurren Lagann was first produced by Neon Genesis Evangelion’s studio Gainax in 2007 and then followed by two anime films. The story takes place in a world where a large population is forced to live underground and not allowed to reach the surface. Simon, a young digger, activates a robot called Lagann and breaks through the surface by chance; therefore he begins the journey and battle to free humanity from the cruel ruler.
