This is not Yuri!!! on ICE. This is Yuri!!! in CAFE.
After the Tokyo Ghoul cafe, QooApp set out to visit the Yuri!!! on ICE CAFE in Harajuku. Ever wonder how does our Russian sweetheart’s favourite bun in episode 9 taste like? And how about the hot pot the boys share in episode 6?
We were in Tokyo to find out!
Of course we made a reservation early on, but we still had to queue upon arrival! This is not a complaint. This is an expression of amusement to the fact that how Yuri!!! on ICE remains most people’s favourite even after two seasons!
The wait didn’t last too long, but it was long enough for us to decide what to feast on and watch a short video projected on the wall.
The first thing came into sight once we entered was the souvenir counter. It was such a shame that the gigantic canvas was hung behind the counter. We just wanted to take a picture with it! Look how good their poses are!
Well, at least there was nothing that in our way when we took a good look at these waiter boys. Yuri is more attractive in a maid costume, perhaps.
The small merch corner was sadly another place for queuing. This time we didn’t need to actually line up outside the shop. We got a queue number and waited while we were eating. This was a nice arrangement!
Another thing noteworthy was how at least 90% of the customers were girls.
This cafe must have something to do with ice, and it didn’t disappoint. This is Yuri!!! on Shave Ice with syrup and condensed milk as dressing.
Fans should refrain from licking and eating those character accessories because they are not edible.
It also offered something that reminded us of ice – a large marshmallow. The marshmallow melted magically once we poured some soda water in the drink, which was quite a show!
Yurio: I will crush you into Borscht in Moscow.
Besides the original dishes above, those that have made an appearance in the anime were also available in the cafe.
The curry tonkatsu rice Pirozhiki was the best. It was crispy outside, then we got the soft rice as the second layer, and finally the crispiness appeared again – it was the tonkatsu! The rich texture was something that we could never find in other kinds of bun.
It was finally our turn to check out the merch corner when we almost finished our meal.
The cup clingers on the right were incredibly sexy.
We also got a glimpse of the silver necklace that will be sold starting next month.
There is still some time before the cafe is gone. Go get a ticket to Japan before it’s too late!
