Riding off the coattails of its anime debut, the titular light novel written by Daisuke Aizawa has finally entered the mobile gaming genre with The Eminence in Shadow RPG/ The Eminence in Shadow: Master of Garden. Releasing at the end of November 2022, this mobile adaption of the novel centers around automatic combat, leaving it up to the player to unleash Hidden Techniques and Strike Combos at the right moment to influence the battle’s outcome. Each character has high-quality animations and voice acting, revealing the extent that the developers have gone to bring Cid’s journey to life!

Perhaps you’re a fan of the series and want to know how the characters stack up, or you might be a newbie who wants to try out a new RPG and progress quickly; this The Eminence in Shadow RPG Tier List will give suggestions on who to aim for, though keep in mind that different characters can be more useful in certain fights based on their skill set and element.

How to Reroll in The Eminence in Shadow RPG?

Rerolling in The Eminence in Shadow RPG isn’t difficult and doesn’t take much time, but rerolling for certain characters isn’t a requirement to progress in this game. If you do choose to reroll, the 10 pulls given in the tutorial can potentially reward you with SSR characters!

1.Open The Eminence in Shadow RPG and go through the cutscenes.
2.Complete the basic combat tutorials introducing the character roles and Ultimate Skills.
3.Finish the leftover story segments to complete the tutorial.
4.Go to Summon and redeem the free 10x multi-roll on the Tutorial banner.
5.Claim your pre-registration rewards from the mailbox.
6.Consume your Phantasm Gems by using them on the banners available to you.
*Pulling 10 times at once costs 2,800 Gems which is much cheaper than pulling 10 times separately at 3,000 Gems, so avoid using single pulls.
7.If you aren’t satisfied with the results, return to the Title Screen through the Settings Menu.
8.Open the Menu tab at the Title Screen, select ‘Delete Account’ and confirm your intent to delete the account.
9.Tap the screen to enter the game again; this time, you will be able to skip the tutorial!
10.Repeat steps 4 to 9 until you are satisfied.

If you see Alexia in the pulling animation, then you got an SSR!

The Eminence in Shadow RPG Tier List

SS Tier

SSR [NPC Technique] Cid Kagenou

Despite wanting to avoid attention, the SSR version of Cid is able to easily draw the attention of enemies to him with his second skill and his Hidden Technique. His Hidden Technique also inflicts ATK down and even heals himself! To top it off, Cid is able to reduce the damage taken by Green Element characters behind him, protecting his allies from enemy AoE attacks, which thrives in most of the content in The Eminence in Shadow RPG.

image 46

SSR [First of the Seven] Alpha

As Cid’s first member of the Shadow Garden, Alpha is an excellent Tank that can restore her HP and Provoke all enemies! Not only that but by increasing her Rank she can even debuff an enemy’s DEF and buff the ATK of all Blue element characters behind her, cementing her role for boss battles and general content alike!

image 47

SSR [Innate Sword] Iris Midgar

Iris is an AoE damage dealer whose Skills and Hidden Technique possess very high multipliers, making her perfect for farming materials in The Eminence in Shadow RPG! Her Special Ability also significantly increases the damage she deals with no drawbacks or conditions, so you can’t go wrong with adding Iris to a team.

image 48

SSR [Happy Holiday] Sherry Barnett

This version of Sherry celebrating Christmas is a Support character who works best in a team with Blue Element members. Her Hidden Technique not only heals her allies for over 200% of her ATK but buffs their own ATK if they are Blue Element. She can also buff the DEF of a single ally and restore their HP, so pair her with [First of the Seven] Alpha, who is also in SS Tier, for an amazing defensive combo!

image 49

SSR [Shadow Observer] Beta

Beta is able to provide a powerful ATK buff to herself with her Hidden Technique, which also deals massive damage to a single enemy! The elf can also inflict Stun on an enemy and increase the damage dealt by a single ally with enough investment, making her a great choice when taking on a powerful Boss in The Eminence in Shadow RPG.

S Tier

SSR [Santa’s Little Tease] Alexia Midgar

The younger sister of Iris is a general attacker in The Eminence in Shadow RPG that can inflict AoE damage to enemies and lower their DEF. She has a passive that increases the attack of all Blue Element allies if there are less than five remaining party members but it doesn’t synergize well with her skill set, which is well suited to farming materials and unlikely for the player to lose allies.

image 51

SSR [Training Hard] Gamma

Gamma is a supporting character in The Eminence in Shadow RPG whose skill set is very similar to [Happy Holiday] Sherry Barnett, being able to support a Yellow Element ally with healing and DEF buffs. Her Hidden Technique may heal more than Sherry’s but doesn’t buff ATK. Raising Gamma’s Awakening Level to 1 is recommended so that her Hidden Technique can also cleanse all DEF debuffs on herself.

image 52

SSR [Small Predator] Delta

In The Eminence in Shadow RPG, Delta only does one job, but she does it extremely well; inflict a lot of damage on a single enemy! Her Hidden Technique is a massive 2,100% burst of damage to a single enemy, her second skill buffs her ATK for 10 seconds, and her Special Ability significantly increases the damage she inflicts. Pair her up with someone who can buff her ATK and Critical Rate, and Delta will shred enemies like paper.

image 53

SSR [Ideal Me!] Epsilon

Epsilon is an Attacker who can buff the ATK of all nearby allies and can regain SP if she’s attacked, allowing her to frequently use her powerful Hidden Technique if you’re willing to gamble with her survival. However, she requires another ally to keep her healthy and take advantage of her skills, and Epsilon will find it difficult to stay healthy against hard-hitting Bosses.

A Tier

SSR [Young Researcher] Sherry Barnett

This Young Researcher version of Sherry is a pure healer, as all her skills revolve around restoring the HP of her allies and buffing the DEF of a Green Element ally. She lacks any offensive support for her team and can’t deal much damage otherwise.

image 55

SSR [Idolized Swordplay] Alexia Midgar

The standard version of this member of the Midgar family is a jack-of-all-trades, being able to heal and deal a good amount of damage. Though what she can do is mediocre compared to characters with more specialized skill sets, the ATK buff she provides to herself and her allies is not to be underestimated so long as the amount of surviving party members does not drop below five.

image 56

SSR [My Innocent Brother] Claire Kagenou

The elder sister of Cid relies on dodging enemy attacks to perform her Tank role, reducing enemy accuracy with her Hidden Technique and her second skill. However, her Evasion buff and Accuracy debuffs last a short amount of time, and Claire’s self-healing is tied to her Hidden Technique. Unfortunately, she requires heavy investment compared to other Tank characters to shine in The Eminence in Shadow RPG.

image 57

SSR [Rose’s Retaliation] Rose Oriana

This version of Rose is given free to any player who completes the Beginner’s Missions and is a good Tank to help new players get their feet off the ground as she can inflict a short Stun debuff onto an enemy and raise the DEF of all allies. However, she requires several Awakenings so that she can recover her own health and improve her capabilities as a Tank.

image 58

B Tier

SSR [All in the Shadows] Nu

Nu is another jack-of-all-trades Attacker, but her skill kit has low numbers so she doesn’t do much damage and her debuffs are weak. Nu’s Secret Ability reduces the damage enemies can inflict on all enemies, but the value is also low enough that it won’t impact combat.

image 59

SSR [Moonlight Shadow] Zeta

Zeta is a bit of an underwhelming Attacker compared to the rest of the cast, as she has low damage and inflicts weak poison and healing down debuffs. Unfortunately, there are more reliable Attackers than Zeta who can consistently perform better.

image 60

SSR [Run, Slime] Eta

Eta’s passive skill at Rank 5 activates 30 seconds into a Wave, restoring her SP and allowing her to use her Hidden Technique if she hasn’t done so the first time. However, her damage output is low compared to other Attackers and her ability to inflict Seal isn’t very useful for the early game of The Eminence in Shadow RPG.

The Eminence in Shadow RPG is a Good Entrypoint Into the Series

With animated movies and full voice acting, The Eminence in Shadow RPG does a good job of introducing the story to players new to the series. Gameplay-wise the mobile game doesn’t bring anything new to the genre, so if you’re looking for a highly engaging strategy game this might not be the game for you. However, if you’re already a fan of The Eminence in Shadow or you’re interested in the series, then seeing these beloved characters in 3D might be worth the look!
