4:33 has recently released their latest mobile shooter, Mafia Revenge, to Australia, Canada and multiple regions in SEA including Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia.
▍Gameplay
There are currently three characters to choose from in Mafia Revenge, Roberto, Rose, and Charlie. Each character has different stat distributions, as well as a different passive skill. Players can choose a character that suits their play style, or simply by looks. Each Character has different aesthetic items players can buy. Upon purchase, these items rewards players with Talent Points that can be used to gain different passive bonuses. The same goes to vehicles.
The main focus of the game is to take out opponents in moving vehicles. Players will be able to collect a variety of guns from different brands. The different brands each have their own characteristics (similar to the Borderlands series). Through pairing different weapons in their load-out, players can adopt different strategies in combat, from going directly for Player’s HP to taking out enemy’s car first for constant damage over time (DoT).
In Mafia Revenge’s real-time PvP, players basically have a shoot out to see which player can kill the other faster. Players can hide in their vehicle as long as the car still has armor remaining. PvP rewards players with different caches which holds weapons, gold, exp, and rubies. Since the weapon upgrade element of the game runs on a shard based system, players will have to constantly participate in PvP to get more weapons and upgrade their arsenal.
Whilst biased towards PvP, the game still includes PvE features that players will have to play through to maximize their gains. Normal stages rewards players with members to join their gang. These gang members can be sent out on heists to earn additional gold.
Additionally, once a day, players will be able to take part in a sponsor mission for free. These missions rewards players with Gun Mods or gold, depending on the day.
Mafia Revenge doesn’t run on any stamina system, so players can pretty much play whenever they want, for as long as they want. The only downside will be the limited box slots in PvP. Unless players uses Rubies relentlessly to free up slots, chances are you’ll miss out many additional rewards if you play constantly.
▍Graphics
Mafia Revenge features a cartoon-esque graphics style, with that being said, the game is still beautifully made. From character costumes, car models, to the weapons and each different stage, Mafia Revenge has a captivating graphic style that makes playing the game more fun.
▍Thoughts
Mafia Revenge is incredibly fast paced, each PvP match only lasts for a couple of minutes at most. With no stamina system to restrict how much players can play per session, players can really play for as long as they want to or can.
The premise of the game can be a little bland, with the main focus just being take out enemy before they take you out, but the real-time PvP element of the game really makes the game engaging. Each opponent sport different weapons and may use a different vehicle, which makes each match potentially different.
In terms of gameplay, the game is great. In a hypothetical world, PvP is intense and mostly balanced and down to strategy. Unfortunately that isn’t really the case, the game is easily pay-to-win. Even a common weapon at high level would trump over a high level one, as long as you have the money to upgrade weapons you can easily win.
Despite all that, the game is most certainly worth a shot. The competitive PvP and engaging fast pace gameplay makes it a great game to play both competitively or casually.
