The Psycho-Pass Providence anime film announced for the series’ 10th anniversary announced that the film is opening in Japanese cinemas later this year on May 12, and also revealed a list of the returning staff and cast coming to work on the film!
This Naoyoshi Shiotani will be returning as director at Production I.G. Makoto Fukami is back as the script writer alongside Tow Ubukata who’s known for his work on season 2 of Psycho-Pass. Ubukata is also credited for doing the film’s composition, and Naoyuki Onda returns as the character designer and chief animation director, among many more.
Cast members from the previous entries in the series are also returning, including Kana Hanazawa as Akane Tsunemori, Tomokazu Seki as Shinya Kōgami, Kenji Nojima as Nobuchika Ginoza, Shizuka Itou as Yayoi Kunizuka, Miyuki Sawashiro as Shion Karanomori, Ayane Sakura as Mika Shimotsuki, Takahiro Sakurai as Sho Hinakawa, Hiroki Touchi as Teppei Sugo, Takako Honda as Frederica Hanashiro, Kazuhiro Yamaji as Jouji Saiga, and Noriko Hidaka as Dominator.
▍ About Psycho-Pass Providence
Psycho-Pass Providence is a prequel movie set between the events of Psycho-Pass In the Realm Beyond, and Psycho-Pass 3 based on the list of characters showing up in the film’s key visual.
Set in a futuristic Japan, the country is governed by a system known as Sibyl. The system monitors the health, and mental state of a citizen by scanning their body and cross-referencing it with their current mood, and previous criminal record. When a person’s activity reaches a threshold, they are deemed a threat to public safety and are neutralized, either with non-lethal, or lethal force.
In a world governed by data where all are under the watchful eyes of the system, young Inspector Akane Tsunemori is assigned to Division one of the Public Safety Bureau to watch over its operations. When on her first mission she stops Shinya Kogami, an Enforcer of the Bureau, and stops him from killing a suspect, she agrees to stay with him in an effort to stop crime and apprehend Shogo Makishima, a criminal mastermind who manages to avoid being labeled a criminal by the system.
