LINE Games started accepting global pre-registrations for its marine adventure simulation RPG Uncharted Waters Origin. The game supports cross-platform play and is scheduled for release this winter on iOS, Android and PC via Steam and FLOOR.
The game is the 30th-anniversary title of the series, jointly developed by Motif and Koei Tecmo Games. Uncharted Waters Origin allows players to create their own fleet set in the 16th century Age of Discovery and experience exploration, battle, and trade as they sail across the great ocean. Built with 4K graphics in Unreal Engine 4, the game presents famous figures from world history and surrounding details in 2D illustrations and 3D models.
Uncharted Waters Origin is also characterized by its immersive experience based on big data of the navigational environment, such as the direction and speed of the wind, currents, and waves with thorough historical research. More than 104 types of full-orchestra music, including the original soundtrack of the series by Yoko Kanno, will be available.
Launched first in South Korea, Uncharted Waters Origin has won 4 awards in the 2022 Korea Game Awards, including Grand Prize, Best Scenario, and Sound category.

▍Uncharted Waters Origin Story
The year is 1522. Many European nations were competing with one another. The stage for this competition was none other than the sea.
They became more powerful by finding new continents and forming allied ports as they traveled across the seas.
Portugal, located at the end of Western Europe and on the outskirts of the Iberian Peninsula, turned their sights to the ocean early on because of the geographical difficulty in exerting their influence in the Mediterranean.
Likewise, their neighboring rivals, Spain, created an invincible fleet known as the “Armada” in order to aggressively expand their influence in both the Mediterranean and the ocean.
England also invested their royal funds and raised their national power for dominance over the seas, which was already controlled by Spain and Portugal. And the Ottoman Empire began to expand its influence in order to keep the European powers in check.
The passion to explore the unknown, the desire for endless riches, and the power to enrich the nation’s glory. For their own reasons, numerous people begin to set sail into the vast oceans.
