▍Blue Reflection Sun Gameplay Features
Let’s take a closer look at everything shown during the overview trailer and briefly explain the features you can expect to be in the game on release!
The overview trailer explained to us the basic game flow and said the game is made up of quests, formation/upgrading, and connecting. These make up the bulk of everything you’ll be doing in the game.
From the game, you can select main quests which advance the story. These story segments are fully voiced and can have cutscenes and other 3D scenes triggering between battles.
Blue Reflection Sun is a turn-based RPG using a command battle system and features an elemental system, with characters dealing more damage depending on the elemental weakness of the enemy.
When battling you can command your units to attack enemies with a basic attack, an assist, and a main ability. Main abilities make up a character’s super attack and can unleash devastating effects. It seems you can also call upon an assist ability which is likely determined by your character’s cards, but more on that later.
Super attacks will play out in a cinematic cutscene and can’t be skipped, but likely will have the option to speed it up similar to other turn-based RPGs.
Before and after a battle you can set up your squad formations. Each character has a power rating made up based on their total skill, character levels, and other equipment. These power levels are generally used to gauge a stage’s difficulty.
When setting up a squad you can view the individual members. Characters can have multiple card rarities based on their Reflector forms and higher rarities can be picked up from the gacha.
You can also equip a character with Frag Cards, sub-characters, and weaponry. This equipment can grant you various bonuses from different stats, and new abilities and change the properties of your basic attacks. Sub characters seem to call upon unused characters to help buff a single one, and undoubtedly certain characters will synergize better with others. You can also level up frag cards and characters to improve their overall stats and abilities.
Here’s a preview of the Blue Reflection Sun’s gacha screen. It looks like in-game you’ll be able to collect frag cards and characters in the same gacha, similar to something like F/GO, though hopefully, every 10th roll guarantees a character at least. When unlocking a character you get a special animation previewing them.
You can also take girls on different excursions outside, hang out with them, take them out to lessons, and get closer to them. These will improve the girls’ heroine levels and with this you can unlock new status bonuses for them, giving them minor upgrades that will add up over time.
After that, the game showed a final screen showing off more of the game’s features including the stage reward screen, and a very short glimpse of what looks like a PVP function where you can battle other players’ squads.
