At today’s Nintendo Direct, Monolith Soft announced that an HD remaster of the original Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 games will be coming to Nintendo Switch this summer.
The remaster gives players the opportunity to discover or rediscover the emotional journeys of the Baiten Kaitos series, which features a distinctive card-based RPG system that allows for split-second decisions that edge participants closer to victory.
Both Baten Kaitos titles were developed by Monolith Soft of Xenoblade fame. Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean came out at the end of 2003 in Japan, in 2004 in North America, and in 2005 in Europe. It was followed by Baten Kaitos Origins – which is actually a prequel – in 2006.
Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster tells the story of Kalas who, while seeking revenge for the death of his brother and grandfather, meets Xelha as both embark on a journey to defeat the Alfard Empire. As for Baten Kaitos Origins, it takes place 20 years before the events of the first game and involves Sagi, a spiriter that has a connection with Guardian Spirits who is part of the Dark Service, an elite unit of the Alfard Empire. Sagi sets on a journey to clear his name after being framed and to unveil the empire’s secrets.
