The anime film Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out, a sequel to the Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, will open in Japanese theatres this summer. The announcement was made in a video by voice actresses Asami Seto (who plays Mai Sakurajima) and Yurika Kubo (who plays Kaede Azusagawa). CloverWorks is animating the movie.
The film will adapt volumes 8 and 9 of the light novel. The first part of the movie, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out, will focus on Kaede Azusagawa, as she tries to overcome her problems. Slowly venturing further and further out of her room, Kaede announces her greatest ambition at the moment, to attend the same high school as her brother. Although Sakuta knows it will not be an easy task, he will be there to support her.
The second part, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid, will follow Mai Sakurajima as she is about to graduate from high school and her time with Sakuta is running out, in the middle of all this appears an elementary schooler who looks exactly like Mai.
The first advance tickets will be on sale from February 18 and will feature a miniature color paper-style illustration card, illustrated by director Soichi Masui and character designer Satomi Tamura, as a bonus.
In addition, to celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 18, illustrated cards of Mai Sakurajima will be distributed at Animate Akihabara Building 1 in Japan.

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, or Seishun Buta Yaro is a light novel series written by Hajime Kamoshida. The story follows Sakuta Azusagawa, and multiple characters suffering from something called Adolescence syndrome, a phenomenon that causes many characters to suffer extremely bizarre behaviors after suffering from a traumatic incident, such as being invisible to others or having insults manifest as real-world wounds.
As Sakuta explores their version of Adolescence syndrome and tries to cure it, he learns more about the various characters in his high school, his sister, and more about himself. The series has been adapted into a manga, and anime series with 13 episodes, and a theatrical release based on novels six and seven of the light novel.
