This summer, Crayon Shin-chan returns with a new look and swagger, as the titular five-year-old takes to the silver screen in full 3D CG!
The official Twitter account for the film Shin Jigen! Crayon Shin-chan The Movie Chōnōryoku Dai Kessen: Tobetobe Temakizushi (New Dimension! Crayon Shin-chan the Movie Great Psychokinetic Battle: Leaping Handroll Sushi) unveiled a new key visual for the film alongside a teaser trailer showing off snippets of Shinnosuke in action.
First revealed in December of last year with nothing more than a backshot of Shin-chan in a cape, the Crayon Shin-chan 3DCG movie now gets a new trailer showing the test reel footage and pages of the original manga transitioning to full-color 3DCG clips. Fans will be familiar with Shinnosuke being chased humorously by his mother Misae, analogous to its manga origins!
One fateful night, a mysterious orb of light falls from space, giving Shin-chan a peculiar psychic power. While Shinnosuke surprises his family with his newfound ability to levitate himself and other objects, simultaneously, a dark power stirs and sets the motion for the film.
While the full cast for the film has not been revealed, the official Twitter account has announced that the anime cast will be providing the voices for the Nohara family with Yumiko Kobayashi as Shinnosuke, Miki Narahashi as Misae, Toshiyuki Morikawa as Hiroshi, Satomi Kōrogi as Himawari, and Mari Mashiba as Shiro.
The film has reportedly been in production for seven years. Hitoshi Ône who worked on the live-action adaptation films for Moteki and Bakuman takes the helm as the director, joined by animation studio 3D Shirogumi, which is popular for their works on Shin Godzilla and Stand by Me Doraemon.
