Detective Conan: Kurogane no Submarine, the 26th anime film based on Gosho Aoyama’s mystery manga, has released the second trailer that previews the movie’s theme song “Beautiful Fins” (美しい鰭) specially written and performed by the popular Japanese rock band, Spitz. The film will open in theaters in Japan on April 14, 2023.
Spitz’s lead vocalist, Masamune Kusano, expressed his excitement for their first collaboration with the Detective Conan franchise, saying that they were surprised to receive the offer but were honored to have the opportunity to be part of it. He also mentioned that the song was composed with the idea of a grand love story that fits well with the thrilling detective action of Detective Conan.
The story of Kurogane no Submarine takes place in the Pacific Buoy, an ocean facility built to connect the world’s police surveillance cameras located on Tokyo’s Hachijo-jima Island. In the trailer, Conan Edogawa, Ai Haibara, and the police force are introduced to a mysterious black shadow lurking around the Pacific Buoy. The trailer also features appearances from other characters like Kogoro Mouri, Ran Mouri, and other key characters in the film.
