After nearly 13 years, the Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi series is finally making its return, when Bandai Namco Entertainment announced a new entry in the series game at the 2022/2023 Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour!
The trailer brought back a wave of nostalgia, showing gameplay from Budokai Tenkaichi 3 before transitioning from Goku’s transformation sequence into a new game with vastly improved visuals, and the tagline “Get Ready for Battle!”!
The new Budokai Tenkaichi game currently has no release date.
▍About Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi
Originally a series of 3D fighting games that were initially released from 2005 to 2010. The last entry was Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team released in October 2010.
The Tenkaichi games are largely played with a fixed camera angle behind your character as you battle other opponents from the Dragon Ball saga, from the original Dragon Ball all the way to Dragon Ball GT. The games had a simple combat system with strike, ki blasts, block, dashing, and ki charging, and mixing up when you pressed these buttons during combat would have drastically different results and combos.
