The popular comedy anime series Mr. Osomatsu is back with its 6th-anniversary anime project, Osomatsu-san: Tamashii no Takoyaki Party to Densetsu no Otomari-kai (Mr. Osomatsu: Takoyaki Party and Legendary Sleepover), which will open on July 21, 2023 in Japan. The theatrical anime also revealed a teaser trailer and new visual.
The trailer introduces the six brothers preparing for their takoyaki party and showcases a glimpse of their eventful night. The key visual, drawn by character designer Eiji Abiko, features the six brothers preparing for the fun takoyaki party.
In commemoration of the 6th anniversary, Osomatsu-san: Hipipo-Zoku to Kagayaku Kajitsu (Mr. Osomatsu: The Hipipo Tribe and the Shining Fruit), released nationwide in Japan on July 8, 2022, as the first new anime film. Takoyaki Party is the second anime of the project.
The films are directed by Hikaru Yamaguchi, who also worked as an episode director of the TV series, with a screenplay by Shū Matsubara, who also worked on the Mr. Osomatsu anime series.
Director Hikaru Yamaguchi commented, “There’s no doubt it’ll be a fun party, so please invite your family, and everyone else to enjoy,” while Shū Matsubara said, “This time, we won’t leave the house much. There are no guest characters. We’ll go all out with just the takoyaki party and sleepover.”
In addition, the Original Ticket Holder with Movie Ticket Card is now available for purchase in Japan. It will be available at each theater and some Animate stores on March 17, and also for purchase on the Animate online store starting March 17. The Smartphone Wallpaper with Movie Ticket Online Ticket is also available for purchase on the official website.
The key visual poster with a limited edition movie ticket card will be available exclusively at AnimeJapan 2023, which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight on March 25 and 26.

▍ About Mr. Osomatsu
Fujio Akatsuka started serializing Mr. Osomatsu in 1962 and was later adapted into an anime series that aired from 1966-1967. In 2015, the series was revived as a new anime series to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
The story follows the Matsuno sextuplets, Osomatsu, Karamatsu, Choromatsu, Ichimatsu, Jyushimatsu, and Todomatsu, who are all identical but have different personalities. They are lazy, mischievous, and often cause trouble for their family and the people around them. The series is a parody of Japanese culture and society and often features references to popular anime and manga.
