Yayū Murata’s manga series Tsuma, Shōgakusei ni Naru / If My Wife Became an Elementary School Student announced on the cover of its latest, and final volume that the series is getting an anime adaptation.
The series also inspired a live-action adaptation that began broadcasting from January to March 2022, and now as the manga’s coming to an end we can finally expect to see an animated adaptation of this heartwarming series.
Despite this series’ absurd name and premise, If My Wife Became an Elementary School Student is a series about a man whose wife passed away 10 years ago, but one day 10 years later a child comes into the house, proclaiming to him and his daughter that she is their deceased wife and mother, reincarnated into the body of a child. The series dives deep into the importance of familial relations, regret, family abuse, and what it would be like to have to face your family members once more after they have already grieved for you.
The If My Wife Became an Elementary School Student anime currently has no release date.

Created by Yayū Murata, the manga series was written originally as a one-shot series for the Weekly Manga Times before it got picked up as a serialized manga. The series had a run beginning from July 2022 to December 2022, and the series 14th and final volume was released on March 16, 2023.
The series follows Keisuke Niijima and his Daughter Mai Niijima, who had been living the last 10 years depressed after the death of their wife and mother, Takae. One day a 10-year-old girl came up to their house and told them that she’s Takae!
The series follows the Niijima family as they come to terms with Takae’s reincarnation and they move forward with their lives after seeing her again. Keisuke becomes more talkative again, Mai decides to stop working from home and go out to meet people, and Takae relives her life as a student, while still being a loving mother and wife!
