NIS America announced that the PlayStation 5 port of the dungeon-crawling RPG, The Caligula Effect: Overdose, is launching in various regions, with the North American release coming on May 30.
The Caligula Effect: Overdose will also be coming to Europe and Oceania through at staggered releases with the European release coming on June 2, and then to Oceania a week later on June 9. NIS America also released a new trailer for the game that introduces new players to the members of the Go-Home Club who serve as party members throughout the game.

Originally released in Japan back in 2016 on the PlayStation Vita, The Caligula Effect is a turn-based RPG developed by Aquria. The Caligula Effect: Overdose, on the other hand, is a remake of the handheld title over to more conventional gaming consoles and was first released in May 2018.
Overdose features a brand new route called the “Forbidden Musician Route”, which allows the player to become a double agent between the Go-Home Club and the Ostinato Musicians. The game also features multiple endings.
The game is set in a virtual reality program known as “Mobius”, a realm created so people can live in an idyllic high school setting, but forcing them to live out their 3 years indefinitely. The main protagonist is one of many groups who have realized their virtual entrapment. As the “Go-Home Club”, the protagonist and his/her group dedicate themselves to escaping from Mobius and its god-like overseer AI, μ.
To do so, the group has to fight their way out of the simulation in turn-based combat against monsters created by the simulation, and another group called the Ostinato Musicians. The Musicians seem to also be aware of μ’s existence but willingly supports it, and in turn, consider the Go-Home Club to be threat.
The Caligula Effect: Overdose is available also on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC via Steam.
