As the last episode of Ash Ketchum’s adventures aired in Japan, The Pokémon Company released a new trailer for the next generation of the long-standing anime series. The new series officially has a name now, called: Pokémon Horizons: The Series.
The trailer also premiered the new anime’s opening song, “Dokimeki Diary” as well. The track is performed by singer-songwriter asmi and composed by Chinozo, who is a VOCALOID producer most famous for his work on the hit song “Good-bye Declaration” (グッバイ宣言).
The anime will premiere sometime in 2023.

In this new series, dual protagonists Liko, whose partner is Sprigatito, and Roy will encounter many characters during their journey, including a group led by Friede and Captain Pikachu called the Rising Volt Tacklers. And no, that Pikachu is not Ash’s Pikachu, despite sharing the voice actor.
Traveling across the Pokémon world on an airship, the Rising Volt Tacklers include Orla, who enjoys mechanical and electrical work and is accompanied by her partner Pokémon, Metagross; Murdock, who is skilled at cooking, and his partner Pokémon, Rockruff; Mollie, who specializes in healing treatments, and her partner Pokémon, Chansey; and Ludlow.
Liko and Roy will also come across Amethio, who is joined by his partner Pokémon, Ceruledge, and belongs to an enigmatic organization called the Explorers. Though the trailer did not show details of the group’s motives, the duo can be seen fighting Liko and Sprigatito in the trailer, possibly suggesting that they are with the new Villains, ala Team Rocket from the original series.
