The Black Stella IP returns once more as Black Stella Ptolomea, a turn-based RPG project set in the same universe as BLACK STELLA Iи:FernØ before it was quickly shut down, and the game is planning its launch sometime in Summer 2023.
As part of the game’s announcement, a new key visual was also released featuring the character Tokio standing by himself before the ruins of a city. An interview was also held with Hiraoki Murakami, the man behind the game’s scenario, and Rui Sato, director of Serverstep Co, the pair discussed the thoughts of the artists and writers and how they really wanted to tell this story despite how tough it is to make it in the social gaming market.
They expressed how after many discussions Fuji Games was finally able to find another company to take over the project in Cyberstep, and now the developers and writers are working much more closely to create a game that would match the team’s original vision.
The duo mentioned that the team is planning a closed beta test at the beginning of May, and is also planning to accept pre-orders / pre-registrations near the end of May, before hopefully launching the game by the end of July.
▍About Black Stella
Black Stella is a mobile game project initially announced by Fuji Games in 2019 but was suspended. CyberStep joined ScopeNext to reboot the project under the title of Black Stella Iи:FernØ. The 3D multiplayer tower defense game was finally released in June 2022 but shut down three months later as the company decided to relaunch it as a turn-based command RPG.
The project gained a following after it was revealed that its narrative team included creators such as Re:Zero author Tappei Nagatsuki and How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend author Fumiaki Maruto. The world setting is created by Girls und Panzer’s Takaaki Suzuki. Kingdom Hearts’ Yoko Shimomura is one of the composers.
Unlike Iи:FernØ which was set in 1999, Black Stella Ptolomea is set in 2049, though follows the same details of a gigantic crater swallowing the entirety of Japan’s Minato ward in 2039. As a result of this event monsters sprung out from the hole and began to attack the population of Japan.
