Touken Ranbu (刀剣乱舞) surprises fans with a new wakizashi that many may not have heard of. The new sword Kotegirigo (篭手切江) is the seventh wakizashi in the game.
After the teaser picture released last week, the sword’s chrysanthemum kamon had made fans believe it was Okita Souji’s rumoured sword Kiku-ichimonji Norimune (菊一文字則宗) or one the five Tenka Goken, Onimaru Kunitsuna (鬼丸國綱).
Kotegirigo is a 47.6 cm long wakizashi made by Go Yoshihiro (郷義弘). It was originally owned by Hosokawa Fujitaka, a lord in the Sengoku period. Then it fell into the hands of Inaba Masakatsu, a lord in the Edo period. It is currently kept by Kurokawa Institute of Ancient Cultures.
