Creator Mado and Team malViolence announced the upcoming release of the sci-fi adventure game, malViolence – Definitive Edition, for PC via Steam on May 19, 2023. The game will support English audio and subtitles upon launch.
Along with the announcement, a short trailer was released, offering a brief glimpse into the game’s plot and confirming the release date.
malViolence is a sci-fi adventure game where players aim to escape from a dangerous laboratory. Players take on the role of an agent captured by a dangerous organization and must follow the instructions of the mysterious mad scientist, Cautionne, in order to survive.
To escape the facility, players must tackle various puzzles, and the narrative branches depending on their actions. While three different endings are prepared, there are said to be “many more” bad endings. The game features a distinctive character design, which combines an anime-inspired aesthetic with a distinctive sense of style.

Originally developed as part of the one-month game jam, NaNoRenO 2023, malViolence has been available for free on Mado’s itch.io creator page. The upcoming Steam release, Definitive Edition, enhances the game with new elements.
The captivating, story-driven sci-fi visual novel immerses players in challenging escape rooms. As a low-level agent for the worldwide security organization “STOP,” you are driven by a commitment to international safety, geopolitical stability, and a substantial salary bonus. Your mission to gather intel on a specific villain takes an unexpected turn when the villain’s sidekick, Cautionne, captures you.
With your life at stake, you must solve Cautionne’s cunning escape rooms while he insists you’ll be safe if you cooperate. However, survival may prove more complicated than it appears.
malViolence also offers an engaging gameplay experience through complex escape rooms filled with brain-bending puzzles. Players will need to navigate through three main endings and multiple bad endings. The game features animated, speaking CGs, partial voice-acting, and a sleek user interface.
With stunning rendered backgrounds and a 100% original soundtrack, players will be thoroughly absorbed in the thrilling challenges of this story-driven sci-fi visual novel.
