Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer UN JE NE SAIS QUOI announced that their narrative adventure game, Dordogne, will launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on June 13, 2023.
Dordogne is a 3D narrative adventure game with a watercolor art style where players follow the story of Mimi, a young woman in search of her childhood memories that she has mysteriously forgotten. The game invites players into a richly nostalgic journey, where the lines between the past and present blend seamlessly, as they explore both the memories and the current reality of the protagonist.
The player controls Mimi, a 32-year-old woman who returns to her grandmother’s house following the latter’s recent passing. The game serves as a love letter to the childhood summers Mimi spent in Dordogne, with her grandmother leaving her letters and puzzles as a reminder to cherish life. The game’s vibrant world, filled with evocative scents and emotions, allows Mimi—and by extension, the player—to immerse herself in her childhood memories, seeing the world through the wide-eyed wonder of her younger self.
The game’s mechanics intertwine the past and the present. In the present timeline, Mimi explores her grandmother’s house, while in the past, players guide a 10-year-old Mimi as she explores Dordogne and completes quests that have repercussions in the present.
Alongside solving puzzles, players will also collect photos, sounds, objects, and words to fill Mimi’s journal, preserving the memories of the summers she spent with her grandmother in Dordogne. This integration of past and present timelines forms the heart of Dordogne’s unique gameplay experience.
