Based on the comedy manga by Piroya, the television anime Dekoboko Majo no Oyako Jijou is scheduled to debut in October 2023. The anime’s key visual and first promotional video was also revealed.
The key visual was specially timed to coincide with Mother’s Day on May 14 as it captures the warm relationship between the youthful-looking witch Alyssa, voiced by Aoi Koga, and her human daughter, Viola, voiced by Nana Mizuki. The promotional video also highlights the lively and smile-filled daily life of the pair.
Masahiro Takata has been appointed as the director, and the series is composed by the text production team Gyro Knuckle. The character design is led by Miwa Yoshida, with animation production by studio A-Real. New cast members include Takaya Hashi as Phoenix, a beast summoned by Viola, Romi Park as a tool shop owner named Lyra, and Kana Hanazawa as the narrator.

Dekoboko Majo no Oyako Jijou is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Piroya. Originally a one-shot was published on Flex Comix’s Comic Meteor website in July 2018, before being serialized on the same website in July 2019.
One day, Alissa, a young-looking witch living alone in the forest, picks up a human baby, still puzzled, and decides to name the little girl Viola and raise her as her daughter. Sixteen years later, Viola has grown far beyond Alissa’s imagination – and so begins this bumpy comedy of a mother and daughter whose appearances are reversed!
