Shonen Jump announced that One Piece will be taking a 4-week break from June 19 to July 10 as its author Eiichiro Oda will be undergoing surgery.
As posted on the One Piece franchise’s official website, this means the manga will not appear in issues No.29 and No.32 of Shonen Jump 2023, and Eiichiro Oda himself wrote and drew a letter to fans thanking readers for their continued support. He stated that the reason for his surgery was due to astigmatism, a kind of refractive error that caused his vision to become blurry and that it was affecting his work. After many discussions with his editor over the last year Oda decided to finally get surgery, hoping to return soon.
The manga will still continue in next week’s 28th issue on June 12 and on MangaPlus.
