▍About Shadows of the Damned
Shadows of the Damned is a balls-to-the-wall and wacky third-person shooter produced by veterans of the Japanese horror gaming industry, including Shinji Miakmi, written by Suda 51, and with music composed by Akira Yamaoka.
The game follows Garcia “Fucking” Hotspur, a Mexican demon hunter with a talking gun called Johnson he won from a bet, who the two are best friends and pair up with to blast demons, as Johnson can shapeshift into many guns that Hotspur can use in combat.
One day Garcia rushes home after one of the demons he kills mentions his lover Paula, and finds that she’s been abducted by the Lord of Demons Fleming, a comically evil villain who says he’ll kill Paula over and over again to torment Garcia. Chasing after Fleming in the demon world, Garcia is committed to defeating the enemies that would love nothing more than to take a bite out of him, while blasting enemies with his Johnson.
The game is a fast-paced shooter where players can control Johnson, turning him into a variety of guns and even a torch for melee attacks. Players can upgrade Johnson by collecting gems found throughout levels and earning blue gems from defeating bosses that grant new abilities. The game occasionally mixes up the formula by being mini-games with some chapters being sidescrolling sections.
