▍About UFO Robot Grendizer
UFO Robot Grendizer, also known as Grandizer is a Japanese manga and anime series created by Go Nagai and bears a striking resemblance to Maziner because it was created as the third entry in the series, before later being relegated to a spin-off series while many still consider it to be part of the Mazinger canon.
Unlike the other series, Grendizer wasn’t created on Earth but on a planet called the Vega homeworld. In the far reaches of space, the Vega kingdom goes to war with its peaceful neighbors the Fleed, turning its planet into a wasteland and killing all but the Fleed Crown Prince Duke Fleed. Duke Fleed manages to steal from the Vega Kingdom the powerful robot Grendizer and escapes from the planet crash landing on Mount Fuji.
After a series of events, Koji Kabuto, the protagonist of the Mazinger Z series returns to Japan after studying abroad and is attacked by aliens and robots sent from the Vegan Kingdom to look for Duke Fleed. Initially wanting to hide Grendizer from the enemy and himself, Duke Fleed has no choice but to reveal himself to fight off the invading forces he thought he could escape from.
