Developer Dragami Games, the team working on an official remake of the 2012 hack and slack game Lollipop Chainsaw by Grasshopper Manufacture, announced the game’s official title to be Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP and that it will be delayed to Summer of 2024.
The official announcement was relayed via the game’s Twitter account in both English and Japanese, in which the developers stated: “RePOP’s release delayed to summer 2024 for the best gaming experience.”
The Lollipop Chainsaw Remake was announced in mid-2022 and was slated for 2023, but it looks like fans will have to wait a little longer for more polish and hopefully more substantial content. Dragami Games has yet to announce what platforms the game will be on.
▍About Lollipop Chainsaw
A 2012 hack-and-slash game was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game was created as a collaborative project by Goichi Suda / Suda51, and the filmmaker James Gunn. The game stars Juliet Starling, a cheerleader for San Romero High and a typical high-school sweetheart with her boyfriend Nick Carlyle.
On her 18th birthday, Nick and Juliet were going to meet her family for the first time until a zombie outbreak occurs and Nick is bitten by a zombie when he tries to protect her. When he comes to though, he realizes his head has been separate from his body, he’s still alive, and that Juliet is actually a badass zombie killer!
Players cut their way through hordes of enemies, perform acrobatic tricks, taunt zombies, and flex their bodies a little in an incredibly zany adventure filled with zombie horror-flick tropes and over-the-top humor. The game also featured a lot of popular tracks from Rock and Roll songs, and also collaborated with anime series giving Juliet unique costumes, including Highschool of the Dead, Deadman Wonderland, Manyū Hiken-chō and Is This a Zombie?
