Gambling manga Kakegurui (賭ケグルイ) confirmed a live action drama last week. The show today revealed the cast for protagonist Yumeko Jabami. She is Kimi no Suizo wo Tabetai’s actress Minami Hamabe.
Minami Hamabe previously starred also in live action Ajin and Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day. The actress commented, “this is a character that I have never tried before”. While the script and plot is a major concern, Japanese netizens are more excited about how Hamabe is going to portray Yumeko’s iconic “orgasmic” facial expressions.
The drama series will premiere on 14th January 2018.
Kakegurui, written by Homura Kawamoto (河本ほむら) and illustrated by Toru Naomura, is set in Hyakkaou Private Academy, a prestigious school where students are obsessed with gambling. A student, Yumeko Jabami, haunts the school with her pretty face, exceptional gambling skills and extreme obsession with gambling. The manga is still in progress in Gangan Joker magazine.
