After Rurouni Kenshin mangaka’s arrest, the loli porn storm continues in Japan. This time, it’s erotic loli manga magazine Comic Lo that gets caught in fire.
On 4th December, the magazine’s official Twitter account was shut down for reasons unknown.
The publisher responded very fast. Since their other magazine Comic Ko (which depicts sex with high school girls) survives on Twitter, they issued a statement there: “we are dealing with the ban and hopefully it can be lifted before the next issue comes out”.
No update has been heard since then.
Comic Lo’s publisher Akaneshinsha runs a few adult magazines, all of which serve audience with different kinks. Instead of curve, make-up, or flirtation, this magazine features innocence, plainness, and flatness found in girls aged around 10. With retro Showa-manga-style covers illustrated by Takamichi, it has become the most quality comfort and ground-breaking creation for lolicons since 2005.

While the mangaka’s arrest should be the scariest news to Japanese lolicons as police somehow managed to discover his DVD purchase records, it is not easy to keep it two-dimensional either. Comic Lo’s forced departure on Twitter is just the tip of the iceberg. In these two years, the Japanese have been tightening control of child porn game, anime and manga. A number of artists including famed doujin creators Oyari Ashito and Asanagi had once been expelled from social media. Japanese Amazon has already removed all hentai works involving children. On Pixiv, Comic Lo mangaka Yawarakamidori also got some baby-related works erased – this one is outrageous though.

Gradually, erotic loli arts are taken more and and more underground. People are able to find naked curvy ladies on mainstream Japanese sites, but definitely not moe children dripping in strange liquid.
There are two reasons. First, the subject was brought under the international spotlight by The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in 2015. Second, the Japanese government may try to create a better image in preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The point here is, it has become harsher and harsher for child porn in the 2D world to survive in Japan. Comic Lo will still be thriving, but no one can promise how long. To the gentlemen in love with anime loli: enjoy it while it lasts.
Last but not least, here is a reminder: you can let your fantasy runs wild, but please do not hurt real children. Producing, keeping, and purchasing porn that involve real children is illegal in most countries. Such actions encourage the industry to thrive – more children will suffer. DO NOT HURT REAL CHILDREN.
